MNLWYPBP chapter 4: The differences between an elder brother and a main character are their skills. He’s OP, I’m not.

I have been taken hostage.

Good thing there’s no science in this world or cameras or else I’m sure, I would be able to hear sounds and flash lights spurring from everywhere but in whatever era when there’s trouble, there’ll always be people poking around…I mean those who are curious, everywhere.

Right now, all these people have formed a circle around me, who’s been taken hostage. Hey! Don’t look so much, don’t you know you’re pressurising the culprit, don’t you know how dangerous it is for a hostage like me!

I could feel the culprit, who’s handling me right now, has started to shake…I think he’s probably shaking cause I’m heavy and he’s probably also excited. Truthfully, he shouldn’t have chosen me as a hostage, he should’ve gone after some random baby somewhere…whoops that’s a wicked thought, let’s put that back in the box.

“STOP!! DON’T COME NEAR!! GO AWAY!! GET THE FUCK OUT!!”, the culprit roared and began to swing his knife blindly in a full circle. I knew he’s started to panic, since a lot of people started gathering, “IF NO ONE LEAVES…THIS KID…THIS KID’S DEAD!!” He pressed harder on the knife which is sitting on my neck. I could feel the metal nibbling at my neck, it’s making my stomach churn but those pair of rainbow coloured eyes staring wide-eyed at me are even more spine-chilling, he looked at me as if to say, “why aren’t you trying to escape”

…Ahhh…

I can’t use magic, didn’t care about combat training, have not been reading books. Even if  Gilbert may be one the main routes in the game but sorry…I’m still mentally myself. I’m making Gilbert, who’s already got little limelight…I’m making his light even dimmer. I don’t even have half the abilities of a supporting character… I promise, after all this is over, I’ll focus on my studies more…if I survive, that is.

Those pretty eyes became even fiercer, he’s probably figured out I don’t have the abilities to get myself out. He made a sound of disapproval, ‘tsk’, before stepping out into the forefront. When he was standing behind his followers, people were already glancing at him but when he’s standing in full view like this, everyone’s openly gazing endlessly at him…as expected of his title of Mr number-one-in-sales.

Regrettable…I also want to know how good was Gilbert Bedivere selling…he’s got a friend like Nigel Gawain, his sales can’t be that bad, no…it may be going down hill, a steep, steep hill cause his scenes were all stolen by his friends. While I was mumbling to myself, I could hear those around me gasp in astonishment when Haref…God! What is up with all this awe-inspiring special effects around him! Bright light enveloped Haref’s body adding on his gorgeous features made everyone forget to breathe, this was a sign that someone who’s OP* is descending!

If I were the culprit, I would’ve ran while Haref does his transformation cause it actually takes a considerable amount of time which should enable him to find a moment to slip away…no, I should stop having all this villain-like thoughts or else Gilbert Bedivere, who’s the incest route’s owner, may end up a villain, in coffin, dead at the end. I shook my head and focused in front of me, the bright light disappeared and was absorbed little by little into a great golden sword, which emitted rays of exquisite lights. In the middle of all the amazement from the crow, Haref charged towards me and slash… Hey! wait!

Haref, I’m still a hostage here!!

But it seemed like my alarms did not reach Haref, he raised his sword swiftly, I think I saw a ribbon of light: just like in the anime. Then, the sword vanished. Count from one to three…

Crash!

The culprit has fallen…too easily.

Isn’t this what you’d call main character’s skills? Did it not end too quickly!

Is this not the difference between Mr number-one-popular and Gilbert, who’s got little popularity?

I blinked my eyes before looking at the culprit then at Haref, who made a sound… with his appearance of a 6 years old, it did not make sense how extravagant the scene was… If I were to practice wizardry and combat, would I be able to become like Haref? I think…I’ve started to want to become more diligent!

Reality is harsh. I smiled weakly at Nigel, who smiled back faintly and poured me tea. I’ve started to practice magic, combat and I’ve also started reading, my father was overjoyed, in fact, he was near tears but no matter how hard I try, I feel like…I’m not making progress. Even though, I may say I’ve started late but how old could Haref be? 6 years old, he couldn’t have started much earlier than me. That’s why I cam to Nigel and was told a dreadful truth.

I sighed, human can’t choose where they’re born nor can they close what to be but I’m not someone who would dwell in the philosophy of life so, I’ll just let those who are OP be OP and I’d like to revert to my slow life lifestyle…

“By the way Gil, have you thought of your younger brother’s name?” I smiled, my younger brother is going to be born soon. I glanced at Nigel…one of Cass Bedivere’s routes. “Nigel…”

“Yes?”, Nigel, who’s turned 7 looked up at me. I want to sigh every time I see his adorable face…too cute, but he’s growing up to become humanity’s ( mainly men’s ) enemy. “Nigel have you thought what your duchess would be like?”, he flinched a little and froze. From what I can remember, even when he was 22 years old, which is the last year off wizardry school, he still could not rid himself of gynophobia** and that was what made him turn bent***.

“…like…what’s kind of girls do you like?” Nigel’s face twisted, I knew this question was too hard for him. “I’m still young right now, so…I’ve no idea”

“How about their looks?”

“I…”, Nigel made a despairing face, “…how can I say it, since I’m always around Haref, I’ve started to think, I can’t look at girls and say they’re pretty…” Yeah, I agree with you on this one. Haref’s features are indeed otherworldly, white hair, rainbow coloured eyes and he’s also 7 years old, this makes it hard to tell what gender he is just by a glance. If you weren’t close with him, you may think he’s a little princess. There’s a chance that Haref may contribute to the reason why my Nigel has no interest in girls! Or, should I ship Haref and Nigel together instead? So, I can get rid of the 3P route!

“Another thing…”, Nigel’s voice made me look at him, I met with the other’s argent eyes, “when Haref stands beside Gil…I think my expectations of girls would skyrocket.”,  the lil’ guy signed heavily. “But I’m not as good looking as Haref”, I raised my eyebrow. If you were to compare me with Haref’s elegant and pure figure…to compare us is a wicked thing to do!

“Well…that’s true”

Hey! lil’ bro, please don’t accept so easily! Your big bro’s hurt!

“But how can I say it”, Nigel was deep in thought, he looked at me and looked up, “Gil’s…delicate?”

You probably meant weak.

“You’re always smiling and you’ve got a atmosphere which makes people want to get close?”

Innocent, naive, gullible…well, whatever, I’ll accept it, it’s not like I can go around acting all brawny and start to kick everything around like Haref. Now that you’ve said it, my psychotic fujoshi lil’ sister has once told me I was delicate and easily persuaded, just like an old piece of wood, near death, without vigour and could only go with the flow. It seems like even in this life, I’ve still got that personality with me.

Would I like to change it? not really, it’s not like I’m troubled by my sluggish ways and right now, everyone around me are rather full with vigour like Nigel and Haref…I think it’s best if I don’t become energetic.

“From what I’ve heard…”, I smiled faintly to Nigel, “would it suit me more if I were a girl?”.  A girl that’s listless, delicate and weak, making it man’s duty to protect her, who’s innocent, naive and gullible, and at times would seem stupid…isn’t this basically the heroine’s traits. I laughed at the idea but it’s weird that Nigel did find it funny.

“Is something wrong, Nigel?”

“That’s right…”, Nigel became silent of for a second and looked straight at me, something sparked in his eyes, this made something in me cry in alarm…

“If Gil were to be a girl…I would probably ask for your hand in marriage.”

The 3P route’s flags have been raised…God, I don’t want this!
